ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for an up-close and personal experience with Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears and Mamahawk on the Rooftop at Eberly as the sun sets over Austin.

For those who have yet to experience Sunset Sessions, the series was born out of the desire to see great bands in an intimate setting. We invite you to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere on the rooftop at Eberly. Come early for Vinyl DJ sets, snap a photo at the photo booth, mingle with our emcee Laurie Gallardo of KUTX, learn about SIMS and soak in Sunday evening vibes.

Each show benefits the SIMS Foundation, an organization that provides affordable mental health and addiction recovery services to the Austin music community. Each event features thoughtfully curated cocktails inspired by the month's headliner.

When the band wraps upstairs, we're bringing the DJ downstairs to keep the party going in the Cedar Tavern! Grab some food and see the famous hundred-year-old Tavern bar shipped in from New York City.

GA Ticket

VIP Ticket

Admission, complimentary valet, two beverages, a signed Sunset Sessions poster, and a $50 gift card to Eberly (valid upon next visit.)

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears

No Rhyme or Reason

Black Joe Lewis never knew how much his life would change the moment he picked up a guitar in the pawn shop he was working at. Since then, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears have performed all over the country at multiple music festivals and worked with world-class producers like Jim Eno (Spoon) and Stuart Sikes (The White Stripes, Cat Power, Modest Mouse). Their 6th studio album, The Difference Between Me & You, released in September and find the perfect equilibrium of blues, rock, and punk. The introspective new project traverses through heavy grooves, soulful instrumentals, and the punkish vibe needed to expand on the vices discussed on “Culture Vulture” and the jeering found on “Rhyme of Reason.”

Mamahawk

Lioness
Synth-driven pop probably isn’t the first type of music that comes to mind when you think of Austin. Historically, we’re a guitar town with a rich garage and blues rock tradition going back decades. So when MAMAHAWK released their synth-laden self-titled debut album in 2015 it definitely caught our attention. Now, a few years on, the Austin three-piece consisting of James Reed, Adam Littman, and Brennan Howell return to their keyboards and drum machines for a new album. That doesn’t mean they’ve left the guitars at home, like their earlier work, MAMAHAWK leans on their considerable songwriting chops to create complex arrangements consisting of both electronic and acoustic instruments. Simple rhythms, guitar licks, and the occasional horn blossom into layers of synthesizers that can bounce from pop to funk to dance music over the course of a single track. Take a peek at their music video for “Lioness” above to get a taste.
